On Sunday, former San Diego Mayor Bob Filner had his GPS tracking device removed effectively ending his house arrest.
Filner was handed the sentence after pleading guilty to charges stemming from his sexual harassment trial. The former mayor was forced to wear the GPS tracking device for three months and was not permitted to leave the building in downtown where he resides.
The former mayor used the time for reflection and released a statement reading, in part, “While under house arrest for the past ninety days, I have been working hard to understand the reasons that led me here, to do whatever is necessary to correct my behavior, to become a healthier, more balanced person and to think through what a man in my position could do to earn forgiveness and regain my integrity.”
Filner was spotted walking through downtown Sunday afternoon.
