Now instead of that Australian woman’s voice, Garmin GPS users can select Sith Lord, Darth Vader or Yoda to be their navigator. Parts of the Star Wars musical score will be included, as well as TIE fighter and lightsaber sound effects. Some features will also include Obi-Wan Kenobi. How cool is that!
Luke, I am your Co-Pilot! This announcement by Garmin is of key interest to us here at FieldLogix because this week in San Diego, Comic Con is in town. Comic Con is the world’s largest comic book and popular arts convention. Hundreds of thousands of people attend, as it is the largest convention held in San Diego.
There are literally thousands of tourists roaming the streets, many of them in costumes. A few of them are actually dressed as Darth Vader, and most of them have no idea where they are going. I went out to lunch and got asked for directions by Chubakkah. I bet next next year during Comic Con there will be hundreds, if not thousands, of people using these new Garmin/Star Wars features.
Darth Vader will be released within the next few weeks and will be available for $12.99 from Garmin.com, Best Buy and Spot It Out’s GPS App store.
Star Wars characters have already appeared in GPS navigational systems as seen in the Tom Tom a year ago. Features on the TomTom also include Han Solo and C-3PO.
