Driver Training Essential Tool for Fleets

More and more fleets are seeing the value in driver training. A recent survey by ALD Automotive appearing in Fleet News showed 58% of the 850 respondents received formal training and 90% would recommend it to coworkers as well as other companies.

Managing director of ALD Automotive, Mel Dawson, said, “In the last year, we have seen attitudes to driver training shift as more fleet managers see the benefits training can bring to their businesses. These range from reducing fuel consumption and accidents to improving staff retention.”

The survey also revealed 42% of fleet drivers without training would like to improve their skills behind the wheel, 19% would like seasonal tips for varying weather conditions, 11% want to better their road risk understanding, and 52% would like to improve in every area. Many drivers also expressed interest in improving their fuel economy.

A separate survey of 400 fleet managers from Insurer Allianz Commercial and legal firm DAC Beachcroft showed only 13% of managers provided driver training.

In addition to their proprietary Green GPS fleet tracking system, San Diego based FieldLogix also offers comprehensive driver training. More information can be found here.
