Beginning today, customers can access the pay-per-ride fleet of Smart cars parked along the streets of South Bay. Driver can rent the vehicles for $15 an hour or $85 per day.
After signing-up, customers just swipe a badge to unlock the car. Although the Cars2go can be driven anywhere, drivers can only pick up or drop off in a 28-square-mile area of South Bay including parts of Hermosa Beach, Redondo Beach, El Segundo, Hawthorne, and Torrance.
Car2go already operates fleets in 10 U.S. cities including San Diego’s all-electric fleet, Canada, and Europe. Currently, U.S. memberships work in Canada and the company is hoping U.S. memberships will be valid in Europe soon as well. Residents can sign-up for free through August.
