A Montreal fleet management company that manufactures systems for ready-mix concrete firms has solidified plans to open a U.S. headquarters in Oakland, Maine that will house up to 20 employees by the end of 2015.
According to the president of Road King Technologies Inc, Harry Marks, the company has been working on a U.S. location since last year. “By having a space — we don’t really need to do it, but I want to do it because I think the opportunities are going to be ten times bigger than they are in Canada,” said Marks.
The company will plant roots at FirstPark, a regional business park that was built in the 1990’s to spur economic growth in the region, but has only seen disappointing results since. Brad Jackson, the executive director of the park, thinks the addition of the fleet management company will be good for the park. “We have a technology company in our technology park. That’s very positive toward really moving toward the vision that the people of the Kennebec Valley had when they started this project back in the mid to late ’90s,” he said.
