West Coast Gas Prices Up 54 Cents This Year
In 12 California cities, the average price of gas has already surpassed $4.25.
Pacific Coast states have seen an average increase of 54 cents per gallon since the start of the year, while prices in Mountain West states have increased by only 16 cents during the same period, according to the AAA Fuel Gauge Report.

Cell Phone Tracking System Approved By Fort Worth City Council
The City Council of Fort Worth, TX has authorized the Police Department to purchase a portable system to track cellphones.
The new tracking system will “exponentially increase the ability” of police to “combat criminal activity.” Council members agreed to spend $184,000 for the new cell phone tracking system, reported the Star-Telegram.
Law enforcement wants to install the new tracking system because of Supreme Court’s recent decision about warrantless GPS tracking.

NY Atty. General Wants Prescription Drug Tracking System
New York State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman visited Long Island this week to encourage the State Legislature to pass a bill creating a computer tracking system that will help combat the deadly epidemic of prescription drug abuse and its resulting crime wave.
Schneiderman wants to install a real-time tracking system with an online database enabling doctors and pharmacists to report and track prescriptions for the most commonly abused painkillers. The proposed tracking system and online database is called Internet System for Tracking Overprescribing, or I-STOP.

COLTS Invests $834,078 For Vehicle Tracking System

Gas Prices Up 25 Cents in 2012 – $4 Gas Coming Soon to U.S.
2012’s Record High Gas Prices
Gas prices have never been higher this time of the year in the U.S.
Monday’s retail price for a gallon of regular gas in the U.S. is $3.56, up 5% in the past week alone, according to the AAA Fuel Gauge Report.
Gas prices are already up over 25 cents since Jan. 1. And the Oil Price Information Service predicts that gasoline prices could reach a record $4.25 a gallon by late April. That would top the record of $4.11 in July 2008.

A Senate committee has rejected legislation that would have made it illegal to secretly use an electronic tracking device to track a person’s movements.
The Courts of Justice Committee voted 9-6 Monday to kill the GPS tracking bill.

GPS Tracking Helps Catch Albuquerque Workers
In 2010, the Solid Waste Management Department in Albuquerque, NM, wanted to improve the efficiency of the city’s garbage routes. So the city installed GPS tracking devices in each of the city’s garbage trucks.
Chief Operations Officer John Soladay said the City saved over $750,000 in fuel and maintenance costs, by taking data from the GPS devices and re-routing existing routes.
The city became much more efficient, all right – plus a whole lot more.
Two drivers were even caught operating side businesses with their garbage trucks – all on the taxpayer’s dime.
