Saab, the once-bankrupt carmaker revived by Japanese, Chinese, and Swedish investors, began production on the 9-3 electric vehicle last September. The electric vehicle, the first in the Saab fleet, will initially be released in Sweden and China.
Saab will begin volume production later this year with plans to launch the new electric fleet vehicle in European markets in 2015. In 2010, Saab featured a 9-3 ePower prototype with an electric drivetrain and a range of 124 miles.
Qingdao, China, will receive the first batch for use in its municipal fleet later this year.
