The exotic Lamborghini Gallardo is joining the Los Angeles Police Department’s fleet of vehicles.
However, commuters in LA shouldn’t expect to see the fancy—and fast—Italian sports car zipping along the freeway in hot pursuit of a suspect or pulling over drivers guilty of a California rolling stop. The new fleet vehicle, painted black and white and decked out with police decals, is privately owned and only on loan to the department.
The Lamborghini, with a base price of about $182,000, has its own social media accounts and will mostly be used for “charity events and recruitment” according to Officer Sally Madera. The Lambo will be making an appearance at the Los Angeles County Air Show March 21-22.
