Next month, Car2Go will launch in an area of Brooklyn and customers should prepare to feed parking meters, although the company will secure off-street parking for customers in areas with a primarily metered spaces.
Four hundred cars in a 36-square-mile zone, including most of northwest Brooklyn, will be available to customers beginning October 25. Customers can leave the cars in any legal parking space within the zone with a handful of exceptions. For instance, a car can’t be left in a parking spot on a street that’s swept four days a week if sweeping will happen within 12 hours, or 24 hours if a street is swept twice weekly.
Car2Go also operates using similar agreements that prevent customers from avoiding meter rules in Montreal and Toronto. In two years the company has signed up 54,000 users in both cities.
