If your gas tank is below the half-full mark, then you might want to head to your local gas station sooner rather than later. Why? Gas is getting more expensive everyday.
Gas prices have risen 31 cents in the past 30 days, which means gas prices are rising about a penny a day.
The current national average price for a gallon of regular self-serve gasoline is $3.87, according to the AAA Fuel Gauge Report, the highest price ever in the month of March. This price is four cents more expensive than one week ago, 31 cents more expensive than one month ago, and 30 cents more expensive than one year ago.
Last week the nation’s average gas price was $3.83 a gallon, the previous record according to data from the U.S. Dept. of Energy going back to 1990.
In seven U.S. states, gas prices have already topped the $4 a gallon mark – Alaska, California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, New York, and Washington.
