A Massachusetts man has been indicted for using a GPS tracking device as a tool to arrange a violent attack on his estranged wife and her lover.
Hubert Hartley was upset and angry after his wife left him for her new boyfriend and took their children with her. Hartley had threatened to kill her or to have “someone else do it.” He attached a GPS device to her car and used it to provide his nephew the exact location of his wife and her boyfriend. The nephew went to the address supplied by Hartley and attacked the couple with a metal baseball bat.
A neighbor of the couple, Ed Black, recalls the incident clearly: “The perpetrator actually was on a motorcycle and he had walked down here from over here,” he said. “They didn’t have any problem catching him, though. He didn’t really hide the fact that, you know they caught him pretty quickly.”
The nephew has been sentenced to 15 to 30 years in prison. Hartley, who has been ordered to stay away from the victims, is out on bail at the moment.
