Weeks of declining gas prices have come to an end. Gas prices are on the rise gain, slowly but surely.
A gallon of regular unleaded gasoline is currently $3.63, up seven cents from one week ago. Gas prices are up 92 cents from one year ago, according to the AAA Fuel Gauge Report.
Rising oil prices over the last few weeks are the main reason for this month’s increase in gasoline prices. Oil prices are fluctuating day to day, but seem to be on an upward climb week by week.
Gas prices are rising across dozens of states in the US. Florida’s average price of $3.60 is 10 cents more than last week. Michigan gas prices are up 4 cents per gallon over the past week to a statewide average of $3.79. Rhode Island regular unleaded is currently averaging $3.75 per gallon, up five cents from a week ago.
The average cost of a gallon of gas in the New Hampshire is up nearly four cents in the past week to $3.66. In Texas, the average price per gallon increased four cents, to reach $3.58. Gas prices in Massachusetts have jumped six cents in the past week, with an average of $3.67 per gallon.
South Carolina still ranks the lowest state in the nation when it comes to cheap gas, averaging $3.41per gallon – an increase of nearly 12 cents per gallon in the past week. Spartanburg, Greenville, Myrtle Beach and Columbia – all cities in North Carolina – rank in the top ten list of cities with the lowest average gas prices.
